Living & Proclaiming our faith today

Until recent times Catholics have taken a subtle approach to evangelisation; one in which the culture itself was to be transformed in its institutions, music, art, architecture and literature. Many of us were offered the life of faith by our emersion in that culture: in our families, schools, clubs, institutions and parishes.

No longer can we assume that faith will be passed on to others in this way. Now more than ever faith needs to be proclaimed and individuals must be invited into it. Each of us must own the faith we have been given, and each of us must take responsibility for sharing it with others.

By challenging and supporting Catholics to live out their baptism, PROCLAIM 2018 contributes to the renewal of the Church in Australia: a Church working to form a people who are spiritually mature and living in response to their vocation to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world. This may strike some Catholics as something new, but it expresses a call that is as old as God's relationship with humanity: the call to come home to God.
